Waterski Primer

Water skiing is great fun and a good exercise. It was long back in the year 1928 when an eighteen year old boy named Ralph Samuelson invented water skiing. Ralph Samuelson of Minnesota projected the thought that if you could ski on snow, then you can also ski on water. As for appropriate water skiing apparatus, for his first skis Ralph attempted barrel staves, then snow skis, and lastly Ralph shaped the first devoted water skis from lumber. Ralph made his bindings from leather strips and used a long window sash as a ski rope.

Water skiing is really a great fun – at times it seems just like you are flying and it is really a soothing experience. As you slither across the water at top speed, cool water splatters over and around you. It is an amusing and thrilling sport that people of all ages can take part in. All you need to be good at water skiing is a little practice and whole lot of confidence in your self. Oh, and a boat.

There are number of water skis that are available in the market. You will need to seek advice regarding the appropriate choice for you. The most common water ski used is the combination water ski. This has a wider tip, and are the best products available for beginners as well as experts. Another ski available for water skiing is the trick skis. The skiers who want to go for busting, spinning and jumping during water skiing use these skis. These skis are shorter and wider than other types of water skis, and need much more expertise. There are no fins on the base of trick skis, so it is easier to glide and revolve, but more difficult to make controlled moves while water skiing.

Another option available for those going for water skiing is the slalom skis. People who want to make sharp turns and want to reach a great speed while water skiing use these skis. Slalom skis have a wider end and a flatter base – this makes it easier to get up and ride straight, while superior skis have a more tapered tail with beveled edges and a channel bottom. These are more difficult to ski on, but will take the skier faster. You can also go for jump skis that are basically designed for those who plan to take lot of jumps while they water ski.

One must take special care of the rope that one uses during water skiing. Water skiing ropes should be flexible elastic so that the water skier is able to change speeds easily. One should use a plastic molded handle to hold the rope. It is always advisable to wear goggles while water skiing. Protective goggles will stop water and rubbish from going into your eyes, and will stop your glasses (if you wear one) from flying off and sinking if you fall into the water.

George Strait Tickets – Another Summerfest to Celebrate

George Strait has consistently been one of the top-selling country music artists to grace the Nashville scene over the last few decades, and it’s only fitting that this contemporary country icon should land a slot as the first headliner at the world’s largest music festival. Summerfest, heralded as the largest music festival by the Guinness Book of World Records in 1999, is the event of the year for Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and it has just been announced that Strait will perform at next year’s event, which will take place from June 25 to July 5, 2009.

The annual Summerfest event took form in 1968, when then-Mayor Maier started the festival in an attempt to bring pride and attention to Milwaukee’s downtown. Summerfest came about after Maier was inspired by a visit to Oktoberfeset in Munich, Germany, and the “Milwaukee World Festival,” which eventually turned into “Summerfest,” took off from there.
The incredible George Strait will take his fun-loving country music act to the big stage (or one of them, anyway) next summer at Milwaukee’s 75-acre Henry Maier Festival Park for the 10-day event, performing alongside all the big names in the music industry. Last year’s list of performers included LeAnn Rimes, Gnarls Barkley, Little Big Town, Three Dog Night and more, and Summerfest’s upcoming lineup is sure to promise just as many stellar acts to perform on one of the event’s 12 stages, including the 23,000 seat Marcus Amphitheater for headlining acts such as George Strait.

Before he was headlining the world’s biggest music affairs, the outstanding vocalist Strait was toying around with rock ‘n’ roll music in a garage band as a teenager in Pearsall, Texas, where he was born and raised in the 1950s and ’60s. After graduating from high school, Straight enrolled in college but dropped out and married his high school love, also enlisting in the Army. Stationed in Hawaii, Straight started playing gigs with an Army-sponsored country band called Rambling Country, and by the time he left the Army in 1975 the young Texan was left with a mouthful of music he couldn’t quite spit out. Straight spent a short span of time at Southwest Texas State University at San Marcos, studying agriculture while developing the makings of his own country band Ace in the Hole. Ace in the Hole furthered George Strait’s music dream, but ultimately he was signed onto MCA Records as a solo country artist in 1980, putting his name on the map for the first time with the hit single “Unwound” in 1981. As soon as the country crooner touched his feet down on Nashville soil with “Unwound,” the hits started flooding in. Strait breezed through the rest of the ’80s with smash singles such as “If You’re Thinking You Want a Stranger (There’s One Coming Home)” and “Fool Hearted Memory,” diving right into the ’90s with “I Cross My Heart,” “Easy Come, Easy Go,” “Heartland,” “Blue Clear Sky” and “True.”

These days, George Strait is still burning up the country music charts, also making hearts skip a beat with his crooked smile and gentle nature. Strait has met screaming crowds with George Strait tickets onstage armed with nothing but a microphone and a guitar, singing the peaceful country summer nights away with his sweet down home anthems. The country music icon most recently released his new single “River of Love” at the 2008 CMA Awards Show, where he was honored with the Single of the Year Award for the hit song “I Saw God Today,” also bringing home top honors for Album of the Year with Troubadour, taking his grand total of CMA Awards to 22. This longtime country legend is nowhere near retirement, so check out http://www.stubhub.com/george-strait-tickets to get concert tickets to an upcoming George Strait show!

How To Build A Sandcastle – Sand castle Building Fun and Science

It’s great beach fun for kids to learn how to build a sandcastle!

And, what’s even better is it’s totally free beach fun!

Beach fun for kids isn’t just about the sand and the waves. No way! There’s a lot more beach fun kids can have and they can learn something all at the same time while turning their summer and beach fun into an educational adventure!

Do you know the three most important features of successful sandcastle building? There are three initial ones everyone should know before building a sandcastle.

First, the sand you use can be critical and determines how solid your structure will be. So the better the sand, the stronger your structure. (However, just what makes the best sand seems to be controversial. This will need to be addressed in another article because it will get me too far off topic in this article.)

Second important factor, is to know how to make a proper building site and foundation for your castle. Just like any building or structure, your sandcastle must have a solid foundation before you start piling on the turrets and towers.

Third important factor, your largest molds are going to go on the bottom. As you build your sandcastle upward, your molds should get smaller and smaller. Making the largest molds on the bottom which will provide the strongest foundation for you. Otherwise, your sandcastle will likely collapse if it’s not supported with a strong foundation.

Once you have spent time on making a strong foundation, then you can let your creative medieval mind run wild and start making your sandcastle as your imagination leads you!

Moms and Dads: As long as you bring the right sandcastle building supplies your kids should be able to entertain themselves for hours while you relax and kick it at the beach this summer.

Not only is building sandcastles free it’s also something that every age can participate in – even the adults! So let sandcastle building be your ultimate family beach fun this summer.

My next article will provide you with your sandcastle building tool list. Most of your tools can be found right in your kitchen!

Reinforcing Healthy Habits with Kids Music and Videos

Reinforcing Healthy Habits with Kids Music and Videos

Kids music and videos are great tools for teaching and reinforcing habits essential to a happy, healthy life. The invention of the iPod, satellite radio and on-demand programming has made it easier than ever for parents and educators to teach and emphasize healthy choices. Whether in the home, in the car or at school, children can watch, listen and learn. Simply by taking the time to select and share kids music and videos, parents and teachers can enrich the lives of children.

All music and videos, however, are not created equal. Kids music and videos should be chosen based on theme and feel. To encourage healthy living, parents and teachers should select music promoting healthy habits. Habits every child should know and follow include: (i) Getting rest through naps and a good night’s sleep; (ii) Washing hands and regularly bathing; (iii) Brushing teeth and flossing; (iv) Exercising regularly (running, dancing, swimming, playing with friends, etc.), (v) Good nutrition (healthy meals and healthy snacks); (vi) Keeping your room and clothes clean and (vii) Wearing sunscreen. Parents and teachers should instill these habits in their children and students at a young age to ensure a lifetime of health and fitness.

In addition to teaching and reinforcing healthy habits, kids music and videos provide an enthusiastic way for children to be active while playing, laughing and having fun. The feel of the music is what makes this possible. Children can’t help but move around when listening to irresistible, energetic music. Music containing upbeat drumming and grooving bass lines creates the perfect exercise environment. Parents and teachers should encourage movement as often as possible when children are listening to music.

To find healthy habit themed, upbeat music and videos, parents and teachers need not go far.  Google, I-tunes and CD Baby have made searching as simple as turning on your computer.  Word searches might include “kids music” or “children’s music.”  Examples of such songs include Silly Bus’ “Jump Up” , “Yawns at Night”  and “Healthy Dose”. Fun, energetic videos to use at home and in the classroom include Silly Bus’ “Falling Leaves”  and “Earth and Sun” .

Making small changes today in a child’s routine can yield years of health and happiness.

Silly Bus is an award-winning educational media company that specializes in the creation of fun, educational music and videos for children. Our team of media, business and educational professionals also partners with companies nationwide to create one-of-a-kind multi-media to help kids learn.

Become a Swimsuit or Lingerie Model

We have heard about Tyra Banks, Petra Nemcova and Elle MacPharson. These women have made it big because they count amongst the world’s most coveted lingerie models. In fact, these women have also made it to the cover of a men’s magazine like Sports Illustrated, which is one of the world’s most widely read mags. Yes, you can become a lingerie model or a swimsuit model.

In the recent past, Joanna Krupa and Emily Scott have also emerged as favorites of men’s magazines.

One must understand that being a lingerie model is not something in the same league as being a fashion model. The rules are more stringent when it comes to being a swimsuit model. Those who you see walking on the ramps of Paris or Milan are the models who have to have a height between 5’9″ and 6′ accompanied by bust waist and hip measurements like 34-24-34.

The most important thing for a bikini model is a certain kind of innocent look; a good bust size and a physique that makes them look good. You may have seen many fashion models having an unconventional look, but when it comes to the bikini models, there is a definite kind of face that you see everywhere.

Read the following tips in case you want to enter the world of swimsuit or lingerie modeling:

 1. If you want to foray into the world of fashion, go for competitions that will get you some publicity. Keep an eye out for the swimsuit wear competitions that various nightclubs hold.
 2. Try to get in touch with a good photographer who will make a stunning portfolio for you.
 3. Select a theme that you are comfortable with. Most fashion magazines prefer the models that have done theme photo shoots. Play to your strengths and choose a theme that suits you well.
 4. Get into social networking in order to fetch more information about the industry and know more people.
 5. Look for swimwear companies that have products that you can endorse with your swimwear modeling. Try to establish contacts that will be able to give you the much needed first break. This is one reason why a good network is very helpful in these cases. If you are lucky enough, you might meet a friend of a friend who has a beach restaurant line and is looking for a model!
 6. Go for regular workout sessions to keep your body in the best shape. Since modeling opportunities depend upon how you look, you need to ensure that you look good all the time.
 7. Practice your photo shoots with a good shutterbug so that you can learn the tricks of the trade and at the same time, get more experience about which angle suits you best and which does not.

The market for lingerie and swimwear is expanding at a very fast rate. Today, there are many world famous names in the fashion industry which are foraying into the lingerie market. The fashion with the right designer cloths is an industry that has a very hot prospective, so try to get into it and make it big.

Peter researches and markets many iems over the internet. He has been in business for himself for over 25 years.

How is the sea fragrance produced?

March 12th, 2009 at 01:18am Under Summer

Question by supercibor: How is the sea fragrance produced?

Who does not enjoy walking on the seashore feeling the fresh
air the wave sounds and above all the smell of the sea?
There is a process by which this fragrance is produced.
Can you explain how ?

Best answer:

Answer by Canyon geezer
A trip to the beach means sand between your toes, salt water in your mouth and that aromatic sea air in your nose. But what gives the ocean air that delightful and distinctive smell? Scientists have not known the full story until now.

The smell comes from a gas produced by genes recently identified by researchers in ocean-dwelling bacteria.

Understanding how the odorous gas is produced could be important because it is implicated in cloud formation over the ocean and helps some animals find food.

Knowledge gap

Scientists had long known that bacteria could be found consuming decay products and producing a gas called dimethyl sulfide, or DMS, in places where plankton and marine plants such as seaweed were dying. This pungent gas is what gives ocean air “sort of a fishy, tangy smell,” said study author Andrew Johnston of the University of East Anglia

Do You Search For The Perfect Outdoor Rug For You, Your Family And Patio?

Do You Search For The Perfect Outdoor Rug For You, Your Family And Patio?

In general natural fiber rugs can’t last for long outdoors. So if you really want an outdoor rug, make sure it has all the specifications for use outdoors and nothing less. Do not make compromises with that. Make sure you are buying from a reputable company with flexible return policy in case your new rug does not fully qualify its specifications.

Also pay attention to the size of the rug and the corresponding price to that size, as well as to the materials. Speaking for materials you should know a few very important facts prior buying an outdoor rug.

Forget the natural fiber rugs such as jute, sea grass or sisal rugs for an outside surface covering because they absorb moisture and can mildew, or fade in direct sunlight. You may think that being made of all natural fibers these rugs, like sisal area rugs, would withstand outdoor conditions easily, but that is not true.

If you are really searching for the perfect outdoor or patio rug, then you definitely must not choose a sisal rug. Due to sisal is a natural fiber that comes from a cactus plant, it can’t stand wet and weathering, so it is not good for outdoor covering. But that doesn’t mean they are not good for indoors, though. Just on the contrary…

Sisal area rugs are intended for indoor use only. They are perfect for indoors due to their unique anti-stain property. The closest outdoor function a sisal rug could have is as a foot mat where you rub your feet to remove dirt from your shoes. Amazing! Well, it is possible because it’s very easy to clean the rug afterwards, either by shaking or better by vacuuming it.

After we cleared why sisal rug and all types of natural fiber rugs are not good for outdoor use, let’s move on to the types of rugs you can really use for your porch, patio deck or pool area – the so called outdoor rugs, and specially designed for exterior areas.

As you may figured it out by now, the outdoor rugs should be made of synthetic materials such as polypropylene or olefin. The olefin is the synthetic analogue of wool and much cheaper as it comes to olefin rug prices. The outdoor area rugs made of olefin feature many unique properties due to olefin’s properties as a synthetic material, which are:

- moisture and chemical resistant
- abrasion resistant
- low static
- stain resistant
- strong and durable
- very comfortable
- olefin is also known as the lightest textile fiber, which makes outdoor rugs made of olefin extremely lightweight.

Stain resistant is one of the best qualities of outdoor area rugs because they are very easily cleaned with a hose and drying really fast in the sun.

Outdoor patio rugs are designed to withstand external conditions such as direct sunlight, rain, snow, moisture. They perfectly fit to any exterior surfaces such as the grass in your patio deck, tiles around your pool, wooden floor in your porch, and even concrete surfaces.

Outdoor area rugs can immediately improve your exterior area qualities by simply providing a little comfort for your feet, relaxation for your mind, and protection for your outdoor surfaces.

For example if you think your patio or porch are a little drab or boring, but yet you spend a lot of time there with your family and friends at weekends, then you can easily bring the so much needed warm, comfort, colorful patterns and lovely designs with a beautiful patio rug or any other type of outdoor area rug.
