An indoor clock usually has a base you put outside so it can read the outside temperature. It then relays that information back to the clock. They’re usually accurate within 1-2 degrees.

Usually they have a wire that goes outside. The resistance in a wire is a function of temperature so by measuring the resistance, the temperature can be calculated. Other sources could be a remote sensor that sends data using a wireless connection or an internet source.

some of them are hooked up to the like the weather channel. or have a radio connected to a thermometer outside.

What brand is this “clock” that gives the outside temperature, where did you see it? Where can I buy one? How much are they? I’ve never ever seen one that can do that – Am I living in the 21st century?

you said there is no physical connection

there might be a wireless thermometer that sends the temperature to the clock as a packet of data to the clock (sort of like a text message)
