Question by Mommyto2: How old is Summer exactly on Young & Restless?
I remember Phyllis had her not long after I had my daughter maybe even a little before and my daughter is two. But jesus Summer looks about 4 now on the show. Do they not let the little babies be little?

In a television tradition going back to “I Love Lucy”, TV shows, including sitcoms and soaps, tend to recast child stars who are older to play the role. You either don’t see a toddler in a show or the character suddenly is school, or at least preschool age. In some shows it is so school aged kids who can actually act have the parts, like Little Ricky in “Lucy” or Andrew in “Family Ties”.
In soaps little kids rarely have speaking roles apparently but still the story line might move along better if they are not under foot, like real toddlers, because they are at preschool or school .

She looks like 4. I thinks should be younger than that.

Realistically I think she is supposed to be about 2 but for soap opera reasons they aged her to about 4-5 earlier this year or late last year.

well today in the show, sharon said it has been 4 years since cassie died. and after cassie died, phyllis and nick were messing around and she got pregnant with summer .. so somewhere around there.

She should be about 2. Maybe going on 3. But I do agree she looks like she’s 4. But that’s the soap world for you, lol. They always age the kids rapidly. The babies stay babies for about a year, they get toddlers and so on and so on.

Summer should be turning 3 in November. I remember because I had my son in June ‘ 06, and Phyllis had Summer that the same year. I think on the show she’s like 6 though…
