Question by daisyyyyyy: I am booking a vacation at the sandals in the bahamas, but a new sandals has opened up called Emerald bay?

I’m really confused. I don’t know if I should book at the Sandals Royal Bahamian or the Emerald Bay. There is not much information or pictures of the emerald bay.

Thoughts?

Out of the ordinary luxury comes to the Bahamian out islands with the introduction of the world’s first all butler, all oceanfront resort, Sandals Emerald Bay, Great Exuma. Born with a legacy and transformed into a legend, this former Four Seasons resort with its rich history of refined panache, is now part of the legendary Sandals Luxury Included® brand. Civilized pleasures go hand in hand with exotic adventures along a mile-long crescent shaped beach. Highlights include a par 72 Greg Norman designed golf course, a 16,000 sq. ft. spa, a deepwater marina and five superb restaurants. Sandals Emerald Bay is your own exotic private escape, so easy to get to…so close to home.

That means Emerald Bay is going to be extremely expensive.

With Emerald Bay being so new there’s not going to be many reviews on the net about it.
The Royal Bahamian is very popular and because its so well established there wont be any new opening teething troubles to upset your holiday.

I have to disagree with the previous poster. Sandals Emerald Bay is opening it’s doors on Jan. 22nd 2010 and because of that, there are awesome deals able to be booked right now which means the difference between the two is worth taking a look at.

I was just at Sandals Royal Bahamian last month doing a site inspection (so if you’d like pictures or more info let me know). While it is a nice property, to book a butler suite it will cost you a LOT more money than most people are prepared to pay.

However, at SEB, all the rooms have butlers as part of the room package, so with the great “grand opening” sales going on, you are paying much less for a service that is much more expensive at the other resort.

The up side to booking at a brand new resort is that everything is exactly that, brand new. The decor is modern, the furniture is comfortable and not worn, and everything is clean meaning you also feel like you are getting your full money’s worth.

However, something to consider, it is not a direct flight to Emerald Bay unless you are coming from southern FL. Since this resort is not on the same Bahamian island (Nassau/Paradise Island) as most of the big named resorts (Riu, Breezes, the other Sandals, etc) it is on the Great Exumas, so you will need to make a connecting flight unless flying from the Ft. Lauderdale area.

If I had to pick between the two, I would pick Emerald Bay, because it is new and for the price you are paying you are getting way more than what you’d get for the same amount at another Sandals resort.

For example, $4,200 will get you the lowest category (obviously including a butler) at SEB in March for 7 nights, 8 days. Whereas, at SRB a room matching that price doesn’t even get you the concierge service!

Plus, think of it this way, everyone visits Nassau/Paradise Island and Cable Beach! Why not visit a place most people never think to go? Get away from all of those high rise resorts and tourist traps and go somewhere like SEB, where there is a definite island feel.

If you have any questions or need any farther help, please don’t hesitate to contact me. I own a travel agency and am a Certified Sandals Specialist and would be more than happy to offer my time and expertise on Sandals resorts.

    Best of luck!
